The changing face of Kayaking in India.
Kayaking is that sport that involves moving in water in a small, narrow boat (known as kayak) that is propelled by means of a double-bladed paddle. The Kayak usually only accommodates a single paddler, but tandem kayaks hold two people and some are even constructed in a matter to hold three people.
The history of Kayaking can be traced back to thousands of years ago when Eskimos of the Arctic used to build kayaks using driftwood or whale bones to use it for hunting and fishing.
Though kayaking has slowly gained popularity among the adventure community, it is still an activity that’s outside the mainstream in India. It remains a limited recreational activity, a niche rather than competitive sport. Nevertheless, kayaking is more popular around the southern metropolis of Bangalore, particularly on the weekends; there are trips organized on the Kali (in Dandeli town), Kaveri and Narmada rivers. For the views, little beats a kayaking trip in Goa – along the coast, on the river (Mandovi, Zuari) or in the backwaters. The tranquil backwaters of Kerala are also a lure for the kayaking enthusiast.
In the north, the rivers in the Himalayan region were made for kayaking. There are trips in and around Rishikesh, on the Ganges, but also on the Alaknanda, Mandakini and Yamuna rivers. Further up, in bone-chilling and inhospitable Zanskar, summer expeditions are organized amid stunning scenery, on the Zanskar and Indus rivers, as well as on the Tsarap Chu (a tributary of the Zanskar). Also recommended is a kayaking expedition out east to Arunachal Pradesh, on the mighty Brahmaputra, or on the Subansari (a tributary of the Brahmaputra), and on the Rangit and Teesta rivers in Sikkim (make Darjeeling your base for a kayaking trip on the Teesta). Meanwhile, if you’re interested in sea kayaking, head to the coast of Kerala.

The Himalayan Rivers are inaccessible during winters in India. Rivers like Zanskar are frozen and most of the others are too cold for one to indulge in any water sport. The monsoon months bring heavy rains to the lower reaches of the Himalayas, and melting snows in the mountains result in higher waters in all of the rivers, making it dangerous to negotiate the waters. Only on the Teesta river can one take up kayaking in the winter months, between October and April.
Therefore summers in India are best time to go kayaking. In August and September the water is more manageable and these months are best to go for kayaking, however skilled people can opt early summer months like June or July. Spring in India is also a good time to enjoy kayaking.
- Considerable amount of skill and experience is required for higher seas and unpredictable weather
- First time kayakers can quickly get the hang of the sport under proper guidance, in the calmer waters
- Weather conditions, tides, currents and many other factors must be closely monitored to ensure safety. Therefore choose a reputable, experienced guid
- Carefully choose your paddling destination as various kayaking areas have widely varied kayaking conditions. First timers may avoid areas those are subject to high winds and vast expanses of water
- Consider taking proper training and gathering an in depth knowledge of equipments and rowing techniques before taking up this adventure sport
- In India, rivers are considered sacred. So when kayaking, do remember to keep your surrounds – rivers, mangroves, backwaters, even the smallest waterways, and beaches – clean. Leave them as you found them (better still, cleaner than you found them). And if you see any litter or debris in the water or on the shore, do collect and dispose of as best as you can.

Freaky Ali - Chupne Ki Dhoondo Gali
Sohail Khan has never impressed me as a movie maker. You just can't rely on casting Salman in all your crap movies just because he's your brother? Thank God some sense prevailed into Bhai's mind and he refused to play a guest appearance in Freaky Ali which was eventually played by Jacky Shroff(in which he has only made a fool of himself). Arbaaz Khan is trying to ape big bro Salman a lot in comic scenes and as expected, he fails miserably in doing so. Seema Biswas as a mother looks convincing(at last i said something +ve)! Jas Arora in a negative role tries way too hard to force a sort of comeback in Bollywood. Amy Jackson has no idea of what she's doing in this movie? (be it Katrina or Amy, why can't these stunners act)??
Nawazuddin Siddiqui is the only saving grace of this sure shot washout flop! He has been let down by a poor script and below standard direction. Moreover the age difference between the main leads is a big minus here. Amy is almost half the age of Nawazuddin?? You need to be a Salman Khan or Aamir Khan to look convincing in such an age gap.
Both the releases this weekend have been let down by lack of thorough research work which has always been a trademark of Aamir Khan! So in all, losses would be booked by distributors.
This could very well mark the end of Sohail Khan as a director(until and unless, Bhai decides to bail out his flop career). Farah Khan, Sajid Khan and now end of another flop khan director!
My movie rating - half star (only for Nawazuddin)
My advice - do anything in life but avoid this crap

Akira - movie review by amit dutta
AR Murugadoss made Gajjini and Holiday in Bollywood of which 1 was a Blockbuster and other an average grosser. Now he has come up with Akira and this time it's a sure shot washout flop! Movies with such weak script and poor direction either needs a Salman or Aamir to pull it off. Sadly both are not a part of this crap.
Sonakshi as Akira Sharma is loud and irritating. Anurag Kashyap is trying hard to replace Mahesh Manjrekar as a baddie cop! Konkana Sen Sharma as a pregnant cop is clue less of what she's actually doing in the movie?? Amit Sadh(was not required at all)....
Script of this movie has ingredients of Damini, Gajjini, Ghayal all 3 served in 1 dish! Action sequences look good to begin with but starts irritating afterwards as this becomes too repetitive and predictable.
My rating 0.5 stars and my request to all - "avoid at all cost"....

A Flying Jatt - Movie Review by amit datta
Ra-one was a bigger disaster by srk or A Flying Jatt by choreographer turned forced director Remo D Souza, i'm not sure? How Ekta Kapoor got convinced to invest in this trash is still a mystery to me? Why Shraddha Kapoor was roped in for an un-necessary appearance? GOD HELP ME PLEASE.......
WWE fame Nathan Jones has been used as a trump card to cash in with Kids. Cartoons are baseless, so is this movie. Kids might help Balaji Motion Pictures in recovering a part of their investment but overall this venture is a sure shot loss making commodity.
My piece of advice for Farah Khan, +Remo D'souza and Prabhudeva to please concentrate on dancing only and save Critics like me from tolerating such disasters. Directing a movie is hell lot of a different from making somebody dance.
Amrita Singh overacts a lot, so does Kay Kay. Jacqueline looks hot but has nothing much to do in the movie. +Tigershroff is athletic but needs to work a lot on his dialogue delivery. Overall this movie is not even a 1 time watch.
Budget of the movie is not matching to what a Super hero flick demands. Camera work, sets, locations, everything related to this movie is disappointing. This is how Ekta would be looking right now......
HaHaHaHaHa.... Jokes apart but little sense should had been applied before investing in such a crap.
My Rating 0.5 stars and my advice is "avoid at all cost"....

Real Baadsha and Begum of Bollywood
Since ages Bollywood has a tradition of declaring current King and Queen who are ruling the hearts of majority of the population. The 3 Khans, Salman, Aamir and Shahrukh have been fighting this battle for the elusive throne of the King of Bollywood since ages. Though Salman Khan seems to be leading right now with regular Blockbusters and Aamir Khan is pretty close to him but poor Srk is left way behind these days courtesy of wash out flops like Dilwale, Happy New Year and recently released Fan!
The title of Queen is doing jigsaw these days around Kangana Ranaut and Deepika Padukone. Both the Bomb shells are having a Gala time at the Box office! Latest Bollywood News are always having their reference.
With the announcement of a new Queen what follows is frustration and so called Cat fights between ageing and Flop actresses. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan couldn't digest the failure of Jazbaa and lost her temper lot of times in front of the media. Similarly Katrina Kaif couldn't hide her frustration after delivering Flops like Fitoor! Poor Kareena Kapoor Khan is either stuck with flops like Ki and Ka or is a sidekick in Salman Khan Block buster!
King or a Queen, nothing is permanent in Bollywood. When Amitabh Bachchan was ruling there was no competition around but with age and time everything comes to a certain end. Important thing is to treat both fame and failure equally.

Dishoom - What's in store for audience?? A sneak peak by amit dutta
Director Rohit Dhawan has earlier made an average Desi Boyz and a below average Main Tera Hero, this time he's offering Dishoom to the audience? A Nadiadwala Grandson Production and boosting of names like +JohnAbrahamOfficial +Jacqueline Fernandez +Varun Dhawan- Verified +Parineeti Chopra +Nargis Fakhri and on a sort of comeback Akshaye Khanna!!
The trailer is interesting and the music is already Super Hit! A cameo by +Akshay Kumar is icing on the cake, as far as opening weekend of the movie is concerned.
Chemistry between John and Varun seems to be working in the trailer at least? Further few controversies will also work for the betterment of the movie's overall business.
Sau Tarah ke, Jaaneman Aah and title track of Dishoom are enough ingredients to drag the audience to the theater's!
100 crore club is awaiting for Dishoom! My Trailer Rating is 3 Stars and i recommend it a "one time watch"..
